Like I said above, thanks for the reminder. Everybody drop by your neighborhood comics store, and get yourself a free sample.
I sure plan to, even tho these days, comic book stores make me feel like Rip Van Winkle.

I don't know, Don, I see people of all ages in line on Free Comic Book Day. My wife and I usually go to breakfast at a restraunt across the street from our local comic shop, and then I go get in line and she wanders around the other stores there and does a little shopping. By the time she gets back the comic shop line is usually about to go inside and she just joins me in line and we get our free comics...
...then we hurry to another comic shop about fifteen minutes away and get in that line too!

I didn't mean to imply that Free Comic Book Day isn't for all ages, because it is. These days, I feel like Rip Van Winkle in comics stores because I'm the befuddled old man who doesn't know what's going on anymore.
Maybe I'll write a blog entry about it. I used to enjoy dropping by to pick up my "weekly fix", and hang around for an hour or two to enjoy the conversation. But nowadays I don't have time for conversations that are increasingly about things I don't know or care about. The things I do know and care about seem quaint to the other guys there.
And I'm less interested in the pamphlet-style comics themselves. Most of the good ones get collected into TPBs, which look better on the shelf and are available at Amazon. The collector aspect is another thing that's less attractive to me in my old age.
Geez. Who would have thought I'd someday be over 60?
