If anyone here remembers the 80s era Phil Frank strip Miles to Go, I could use some help.
Please share any cast members whose names you remember, and especially the name of the pet store the strip was set in "(someone's) Used Pets" is all I remember.
Thanks greatly. Hey, see what I do with this obscure knowledge by checking out my gritty,
post-apocalyptic comic strip parody Weapon Brown at

No, I can't honestly say I've ever heard of it, so I can't help with cast members or the name of the pet store.
What I did find, tho, is that it ran approximately 1982-86 (or at least, those are the years it was advertised in Editor & Publisher magazine, and that it was syndicated by Field Newspaper Syndicate, a relatively minor outfit, tho not completely unheard-of. (I believe it was later absorbed into King Features.)
Phil Frank was also associated with On Campus (1970-72) and Travels with Farley (1978-84). That's all I have, tho, and I'm afraid it doesn't answer your questions.
I checked out the online comic. Pretty well drawn, but the story doesn't seem to be to my taste, so it's hard for me to judge.

I have never heard of that strip either. But I have heard of the Field Newspaper Syndicate. Since I live in the Chicago area I recognize the name as the syndication arm of the Sun Times and the late Chicago Daily News, both of which were owned by the Field family before being sold to Rupert Murdoch and his News America company. So, I would think that the Field Syndicate might have been absorbed into the News Corp. syndicate, rather than Hearst's King Features operation.

I could be wrong, of course, but there is a tendency for defunct syndicates to get absorbed into King Features, just as there's one for defunct comic book companies to be absorbed into DC.
Also, if I recall correctly. Steve Canyon started out at Field Enterprises (which I assume is the same outfit; otherwise, there doesn't seem to be a listing for Enterprises in the strip index CBG published in 1986), and it wound up at King.

And, I could be wrong as well. It's just that I thought I remembered that when Murdoch bought the SunTimes everything that was Field became News Corp/News America, and/or Fox.

Nothing to say in direct reply, but I did just get a chuckle out of the situation -- a couple of old farts trying to get to the bottom of corporate shenanigans from a generation or so back, that don't really matter to either of them.
Still, I'm dedicated to getting to the bottom of things like this, whether anybody cares or not. Which makes me a subject of chuckles like this.

The truth is: I absorbed all those syndicates! I am Galactus, the content eater!

Sorry to hear that, Gal. I liked a lot of the stuff they did.

Boy, are you in luck! 'Miles' was one of my favorites and I saved eight of the best! Don't know how long they'll last before they're taken down, but here they are:

The strip ran for only a short time in 1981, IIRC.

Naturally, I don't approve of violating copyrights. But I'm not going to be the one to take it down, unless the copyright owner directly objects.
