I remember a cartoon that showed in the 90' when Cartoon Network first started out that was much older, maybe early 80's?
There was a guy with two swords the fused together into one for a power up, and there was a phoenix that wanted to be older and bigger than before. I remember the last episode was the Phoenix finding a larger phoenix and admiring this phoenix. The series was short. There was at least one girl, one guy and then the phoenix. The phoenix had a weird name and was annoying...
Any ideas?

The two swords business sounds sort of familiar, but the phoenix part doesn't. I hate to admit it, but I'm stumped. Anyone?

Just reading the description, "Pirates of Dark Water" popped into my brain. There was an annoying bird character on that show, but it wasn't a phoenix. It was actually some sort of monkey-bird thing. I think Ren (the main) may have had two swords occasionally or was trying to find a sword that matched his (in a clever, never-before-seen *coughcough* "Masters of the Universe" *coughcough* McGuffin). But I think Don's done a write-up for "Pirates," and he said that your description didn't ring a bell... Hmmm... Here's a link to a picture of Niddler (the monkey-bird).
