I am working on a parody comic book that lampoons classic and contemporary comic strip characters.
Right now I am writing a sequence which involves cavemen and othertroglodytic characters. Currently I am employing Alley Oop, the cavemen from BC, Bucolic Buffalo from Tumbleweeds, the goons from Popeye and Peter Piltdown. But I need more!
Can anyone hip me to any other caveman or primitive characters from newspaper strips only? I am thinking especially of the loincloth variety characters, but feel free to suggest anyone you consider appropriate.

Let's see, there's Anthro, Tor . . . Does it include animated cavemen? If so, The Flintstones, The Mighty Mightor, [dinoboy.htm]Dino Boy[/url] . . .
If you go for early, now-obscure stuff, there's Our Antediluvian Ancestors and the British Prehistoric Peeps, possibly the first in cartoons (which I haven't written up yet because I haven't found a good picture).
Anybody else? DC also did one called Kong the Untamed, I think, tho I haven't written him up yet. And I'm sure there are more out there.
Oh yeah! There's Moon Boy in Kirby's Devil Dinosaur.

He's looking for characters specifically from newspaper strips, so comic book and animated characters won't work.
Tarzan isn't a caveman, but he does wear a loincloth; would he work?
Once again, I'll offer a link to the best resource I have for old newspaper comics - the comic-strip-classics group at Yahoo:

Oh. Well, that limits it, doesn't it? Still, Our Antediluvian Ancestors qualifies, even if most modern people have never heard of it. And didn't The Flintstones appear in newspapers?
That's all I can think of offhand, but I'll keep it in mind. Meanwhile, the floor is open for anyone else to come up with one or two.
