Conan the Barbarian was one of the biggest hits that Marvel Comics had in the 1970s. They published hundreds of comics and magazines featuring Conan, Kull, Solomon Kane, Bran Mak Morn, and other characters from REH and many more that were inspired by REH-style sword-and-sorcery. Writer Roy Thomas and artists Barry Smith and John Buscema were the preeminent creators, but there were many others. There was even a syndicated newspaper comic strip for a few years, initially by Thomas & Buscema, with the bulk of the run by Thomas & artist Ernie Chan.

In recent years, the comics license to REH characters has shifted to Dark Horse Comics. They're reprinting the old Marvel material and also publishing new stories, done without the restrictions of the 1970s Comics Code. I've only seen one story, in a Free Comic Book Day giveaway a couple of years ago, so I can't really judge how well they're doing.

Try going to www.comics.org and doing a character search on "Conan". That should give you an idea of ho popular the character has been in the comic book world.

Of course, there's Conan and Kull from Marvel in the '70s. I also recall Solomon Kane from about that time. But Rob already mentioned those (and thanks, Rob -- you're obviously more knowledgeable about Howard than I am).
