About:In 1951, I was 4 and we moved to another house in a suburb of Chicago. The first time I went in the house, what still is most vivid in my mind is seeing for the first time, the Sunday Funnies of the old Chicago American - Bringing Up Father, Beetle Bailey, Blondie, etc on a couch in the front parlor. I was astounded! You mean there were other comics than the only paper I knew existed - The Chicago Tribune with Dick Tracy, Moon Mullins, Smilin Jack, Orphan Annie, et. al? By the time I was 16 I was reading the comics almost daily in 3 of the Chicago papers, Trib, American, Daily News, and occasionally the Sun Times.
